With a new partnership that has unlocked a portfolio of exciting commercial and civil projects, Nuflow Manawatu is ready to pump new life into its region’s aging infrastructure.

Nuflow Manawatu has recently launched a partnership with Semtex, a local plumbing company that specialises in commercial and civil project contracting. Semtex boasts a collective 200 years of combined industry experience in plumbing, gas, drainage and civil pipelaying. As well as serving the Manawatu region, it operates New Zealand-wide on a number of key specialist contracts.

According to Managing Director, Matthew Nieper, the partnership will bring a new area of proactive, new-age plumbing and relining solutions that are crucial to Manawatu’s pipe infrastructure and its residents.

“We’re really excited to partner with Semtex. Nuflow will be able to lend its expertise to a whole new range of commercial and civil projects, and Semtex will have access to our market-leading relining solutions and pipe inspection technology.

“Ultimately, this is guaranteed to benefit local government, businesses and residents, as we’ll be able to provide modern solutions to monitor, assess and repair even more damaged or aging pipes in the area.

“It’s especially exciting as our solutions are cutting edge, and aren’t yet mainstream or highly available to the Manawatu area. We’ll be able to help shape the region with pipes that are more durable, resilient and efficient than ever before,” Matthew said.

Nuflow is best known for its specialist relining services that repair and rehabilitate pipes by creating a ‘pipe within a pipe’. This is created with an epoxy liner that bonds to the host pipe’s interior wall, sealing and protecting the system from further deterioration while dramatically extending the life of the piping system. Nuflow boasts a range of products that have been developed in-house by the company’s own research and development team, all with special applications to cover all types of problems. ‘Greenline’, for example, is AS/NZ 4020: 2005 approved and deemed safe for drinking water, while ‘Ultraline’ contains a specialised UV resin which cures with an LED Ultra Violet light.

Nuflow’s unique approach is all about providing non-invasive, low impact plumbing solutions that make it easier to be proactive rather than reactive. One of their key services is CCTV inspection, which allows for a detailed, high-definition assessment of a pipe’s condition without needing to dig trenches and create unnecessary environmental or societal impact.

“Our team uses the latest IBAK Tractor Cameras and Pushreels, operated by ProjectMax CCTV trained operators, Matthew said.

“Paired with WinCan VX and WinCan Webflex Cloud Software, we’re able to generate professional reports and grade pipelines to NZPIM 4th Edition along with providing Laser Deformation and Inclination Reports from 50mm to 3000mm.”

Matthew said this CCTV and assessment technology, while not widely available, is becoming increasingly valuable to major commercial and civil projects. The approach allows for quick, accurate and low impact evaluation of the pipes before major project assets, like repair equipment, need to be on site. Ultimately, this helps government and commercial stakeholders to benefit from a significantly more efficient and cost-effective solution.

“Whether it be stormwater, drinking water or sewage, pipe infrastructure plays a crucial part in a modern, developed society. The trouble is that costs, logistics and societal impacts are major factors in deciding how and when to maintain critical pipe infrastructure.

“A potential issue may be left until it becomes an immediate problem that justifies the cost, labour and time to excavate and make the necessary repairs. By then, it might be too late,” Matthew said.

This is particularly important for the aging pipe infrastructure in the Manawatu region, which has the potential to impact water quality and environmental health.

Nuflow’s CCTV solutions are able to view pipes with minimal impact, providing a clear view of issues underground so that reliable and accurate condition reports can be done efficiently and more frequently. This is expected to help increase the frequency of assessments every year, allowing local councils to keep a closer eye on the conditions of pipes that serve their communities.

“At Nuflow Manawatu, we’re eager to deploy this technology more frequently so we can be more proactive with how we maintain our critical pipes. Everyone should have the right to clean drinking water and a reliable sewerage system, and our goal is to ensure this is a pillar for the region.”

Homeowners and businesses on the Central Coast can potentially save thousands of dollars when it comes to blocked or damaged pipes, thanks to Nuflow’s recent expansion into the area.

The national pipe relining company welcomed Catherine Hill Bay-based owner Riley to deliver its unique ‘pipe within a pipe’ system, using Australian-made relining materials with a 50 year warranty. This means no digging or excavation is required, saving potential damage to homes, businesses and industrial sites.

Riley said the technology is a real game changer for the area and the community when it comes to plumbing repair work.

“You’ll never know if you’ve got blocked or damaged pipes until the problem literally surfaces, and in most cases it’s too late,” he said.

“Nuflow helps in two ways, firstly to fix the problem without ever having to dig the pipes up, which can be an expensive exercise and cause all sorts of inconvenience.

“More importantly we provide pre-house purchase, home renovation and business asset inspections to ensure you don’t end up in an emergency situation.”

Nuflow’s technology is at times only a fraction of the cost of digging and can fix even the trickiest of problems usually within a day.

“Using the latest CCTV camera equipment, we pinpoint the exact location of blocked or damaged pipes, clear them then use our innovative equipment and products to fix it from the inside,” Riley said.

“Relining can be carried out on all kinds of pipes, including clay pipes that are clogged by tree roots.

“Our process makes them stronger than they were before and we can even address difficult joins, bends and dead ends.”

The locally owned business is excited to expand Nuflow operations across Central Coast regions to offer the unique full pipe rehabilitation service for residential, commercial and government work.

“We are looking forward to future opportunities and working alongside Nuflow to continue to grow the brand in across the Central Coast,” Riley said.

This week is Australian Made Week, a time to celebrate and support local makers and growers while demonstrating the benefits of buying Australian-made products.

This is especially relevant for us at Nuflow. As a local company supporting local jobs, industries and economies, we pride ourselves on our locally developed and manufactured products. These products are backed by an Australian-based team of scientific, engineering and technical experts, as well as testing, training, and production teams. This allows us to custom-design products for scenarios specific to our local climate and infrastructure.

There has been a lot of hard work and development that has gotten us to this point. That is why we’re celebrating Australian Made Week by sharing the history of these products and looking back on the journey up till now.

Where it all began

The foundations of the Nuflow story begin in 1998 in Canada, where the company was founded. They had developed an epoxy lining of pipes within domestic, single-dwelling buildings. Then in 2000, the ‘sleeve-within-a-sleeve’ method using an inflatable bladder was patented. No sooner had Nuflow begun licencing his technology, than it caught the attention of Gold Coast businessman and plumber, Ed Ahern.

Ed saw the vast potential of Nuflow’s solution and sought to develop and adapt it for Australia. In 2004, he launched Nuflow Australasia and entered markets across Australia, New Zealand and Thailand. A patent was granted the following year for a process that enabled lining around multiple bends, further expanding our capabilities.

This led to Nuflow’s Australian operations receiving an AS/NZ 9001:2008 Quality Management Systems (QMS) accreditation. This is awarded to businesses whose QMS is able to meet customer and regulatory expectations at an exceedingly high standard. Receiving this accreditation empowered us with greater credibility within the market which inevitably led to an increased demand for our services.

This set us toward the Nuflow you know today. Thanks to the growing demand, Ed was able to establish a research facility in 2012 where he appointed scientific and engineering experts to improve the technology and accompanying processes further. This made Nuflow the only Australian pipe relining company with the capacity to design, manufacture and install our own epoxies, lining materials and certain specialist installation equipment. With research, development, and manufacturing all under one roof, we could expand our offerings and create a more comprehensive product portfolio to meet a wider variety of needs.

Bringing innovative Australian-made products across the nation

At that point, Ed had been licensing the technology his team developed to various plumbing companies across the nation. However, he realised that Nuflow had the potential to deliver quality, no-dig relining solutions to more people if we operated under a franchise model. So, in 2018 he did just that.

As a franchise, we flourished into a much larger team of committed and passionate professionals. We were able to extend our coverage and build confidence within water and council authorities, as well as hydraulic consultants and engineers. This growth led to the introduction of specialised technical, training and development courses, which has allowed our teams to grow and embrace more advanced installations.

As capabilities increased, the research and development team were able to design more advanced materials and solutions for more complex problems. This began with Blueline as the core CIPP product and has since led to acid-resistant and underwater resins with a variety of curing times. Throughout our product expansion, Nuflow developed Water Mark approval for both Blueline and Redline products, while also working on the Australian standard committee to develop installation standards for AS3500. This demonstrates our evolution into trusted industry leaders.

Investing in innovation

Today, innovation is our guiding ethos. We heavily invest in ongoing research and product development, which has established us as market leaders in the pipe relining industry. The extensive training, education and ongoing support our franchisees receive allow us to deliver high-quality, tailored relining solutions that align with the requirements of local assets.

We are proud to back our Australian-made products with a manufacturer guarantee of up to 50 years, and we are confident in the longevity of our innovative solutions.

What’s next

We will continue to push to new frontiers for what our products are capable of. We are always developing new application systems, curing methods and relining composites to improve our delivery and expand our capabilities.

In fact, our research and development teams are currently tapping into UV-curing technology with the hope to roll it out soon. This will provide new, more streamlined solutions for complex issues and allow us to reach a solution faster. We are also beginning to roll out a new application process Nu Coat, which allows the resin to be sprayed onto the pipe as a great solution for smaller assets.

As more pipe problems are solved with our products, we will continue to grow, evolve and expand into new markets.

Leverage these Australian-made products for yourself

Buying locally is always better. Our products are specifically manufactured and assembled for Australian climates and infrastructure, with the ability to be adapted to your specific needs locally. No matter if you’re a residential, commercial, or industrial client, we have the solutions to help. Reach out to us today.

At Nuflow, we are invested in the success of our franchisees. That’s why we ensure the members of our network are equipped with the latest industry knowledge and understand best practices when it comes to our ever-evolving products and services.

We are always striving to innovate, expand and help our franchise partners hone their skills. We deliver on this commitment with our training days; an annual event where we share knowledge on products, installation methods, and how to consistently deliver high-quality services.

This year’s training day was held in March and was a resounding success. With an impressive turnout and high levels of engagement, attendees were able to gain significant value from the varied and diverse sessions. It was great to see our senior installers actively participating while supporting the other members of the group to upskill.

Read on to get the full details on this great day.

The importance of annual training and business support

We are constantly welcoming new members to the Nuflow team. When these new members come on board, it’s important for our overall commitment to quality that they have a firm understanding of our systems and processes. That way they can confidently add value to a range of different projects.

Even our existing technicians, who have a wealth of experience, benefit from the training day. It is an opportunity to reinvigorate their knowledge with fresh insights and help to perfect their skills even further. There is such a high level of collaboration taking place that those who think they’ve seen and done it all can gain an understanding of situations they may have never encountered, making them better equipped for the future.

From a head office perspective, these committed training days construct better foundations for the franchise partners. Head office supports the network with complex jobs as they arise, but with updated training sessions they can empower members of the network to tackle these jobs with confidence.

Business support and training sessions

So, what did the training actually involve? Here are the sessions we conducted.

Sumoline

Our first session provided valuable insights into the complexity behind the installation of our Sumoline solution. Sumoline is our strongest cured-in-place-pipe (CIPP) relining system, specifically designed to structurally repair built infrastructure. With a portion of the network unfamiliar with its installation process and others unsure about its feasibility, it was great having the opportunity to demonstrate its benefits and application methods. The proficient execution of the session left attendees very impressed with the final outcome.

Learn about Sumoline in action here.

Junctions

Relining around junctions is a complex but useful process. So, informing attendees on the junction relining capability of our core Blueline product was an important part of the training day. The session covered the intricacies involved in this process, informing technicians with a diverse range of experience levels on the best install methods.

Making use of our junction rig, we were able to communicate the common challenges that can arise when working in the field and the accompanying solutions. Attendees walked away from the session with an increased understanding of how to align the junction and achieve optimal results through the reline.

You can learn more about junction relining here.

Ultraline

Ultraline is a new relining solution that we’ve been working on in collaboration with Nuflow USA. It offers all new UV curing capabilities that will make the relining process faster than ever.

To demonstrate the advantages of this new system, we arranged a virtual session with Nuflow USA members Mikel Thompson and Tom Bowman who answered questions and provided high informative, in-depth insights into the benefit of this system. We even conducted a practical demonstration where we highlighted how easy it is to use and how much time it can save.

Apps

We are always looking to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of our installers in the field and in the office. One of the ways we’ve been able to do that is by developing specialised apps and online systems. These allow installers to access critical documents, tools and information via their mobiles, enabling more exact product measurements and greater process accuracy.

During the session, we introduced Nutec, a state-of-the-art online training and education system that gives installers greater development opportunities. Team members can log on to the system and upskill themselves on processes, products, and equipment.

We also presented updates to the Nuflow IQ system, which is essential for compliance and quality control. The IQ app facilitates greater transparency and accuracy, while making the warranty process much easier.
Find out more about the IQ app here.

Coating

While CIPP relining is our specialty, it’s not all we do. We were fortunate to hold a session hosted by Nuflow Bendigo owner, Phil Kelly, who demonstrated how to use the Picote Brush Coat System. This system is ideal for smaller pipes, and a great alternative for pull-in-place liners when access is difficult. We also introduced the Nucoat system, which is a game changer for certain projects. The session was great for introducing expanded capabilities that can be applied to range of pipe relining scenarios.

You can hear more about the brush coat system here.

Pressure pipes

Repairing of pressure pipes is an important process with specific requirements. During this session, we emphasised the importance of using the right tools and equipment when dealing with pressure pipes, which differ from standard drainage. Through a hands-on, practical exercises, we shared what technicians should be using to ensure success and compliance. The practical process was a great learning opportunity for our network.

KRE presentation

KRE is an Australian-owned company that has been manufacturing robotic equipment for over 30 years. They are a trusted partner of Nuflow whose products have allowed us to expand our capabilities.

KRE presented their product range, including their state-of-the-art robotic cutters. Their insights into these products demonstrated how franchise partners can leverage them in complex situations and projects, making the process easier. We appreciate their contribution to the event and the knowledge they provided to our network.

Creating success in the Nuflow network

Overall, the 2023 Training Day was an exceptional event that fostered learning, collaboration, and teamwork across the network. We are pleased we could offer business support and franchise training that allowed participants to feel confident and empowered. We can’t wait to see how they apply their newfound knowledge in the field and to discover the knowledge gained before the next training event.

The Nuflow network is expanding! We’re so thrilled for our partners in New Zealand to join our franchise.  Previously, there were a few licensed plumbers certified to sell and install our relining materials, but now our whole business model will be available to help more kiwis with their pipe problems. We’re so excited to bring the full range of our top-quality processes, products and services to Aotearoa, the Land of the Long White Cloud. Find out more about what this means for our network below!

How Nuflow has grown and expanded over the years

Since the inception of the original ‘Nu Flow’ brand in 1998, a lot of things have changed. In just over 20 years, it has gone from a simple idea in the mind of a young Canadian drain pipe technician to a multi-national organisation leading the market in CIPP trenchless pipe repairs.

Nu Flow was founded with a focus on epoxy lining of pipes within domestic, single-dwelling buildings, and after patenting the ‘sleeve-within-a-sleeve’ relining method, the technology was then licensed to third parties. This caught the attention of our founder, Ed Ahern, and in 2004 he launched Nuflow Australasia, bringing pipe relining to Australia, New Zealand and Thailand under the licensed business model.

This proved to be a major success, and in 2012 Ed established a research facility to further develop the relining technology. With appointed scientists and engineers, Nuflow was leading the way as the only Australian pipe relining company with the capacity to design, manufacture and install its own epoxies, lining materials, and specialist installation equipment. Over 2016 and 2017, we even assisted in writing the standard for relining materials!

In 2018, we were finally able to transition from a licensee model into a franchise model within Australia, bringing standardised operating procedures across the nation that established effective training techniques, business processes, and resource sharing throughout the network. Now in 2022, we’re doing the same thing in New Zealand, and we’re so excited to see what the future holds as we continue to drive up knowledge and further expand.

License model vs franchise model

So, what does it actually mean that our NZ franchise partners have gone from licensees to franchisees? Now that they’re part of the franchise model, these licensees – now called franchise partners – are given access to our trademark along with our entire operational system to sell and market our products and services. We use a fully integrated, end-to-end operational process, and know what’s happening with our products every step of the way.

Our business is set up so that our chemists, engineers, trainers and installers work together to create the best solutions for each job, providing advice, resources and support for each other whenever it’s needed. New Zealand can access these franchise partnership benefits while expanding our capabilities and bringing our expertise to new customers.

A new world of opportunities

More franchise partners mean more insights, experience, and expertise that can be shared and leveraged throughout the network. Our growing success is driven by innovation, and we’re always looking for ways to improve. These new perspectives could help perfect and improve the way we do things, bringing benefits to our customers and to the rest of the network.

Nuflow’s commitment to our franchise partners

At Nuflow, our philosophy is that when people are respected and valued, they are more likely to achieve great things and get higher satisfaction out of the work they do. That’s why we take the time to acknowledge and appreciate all the members of our network.

We offer opportunities to learn, grow and excel while recognising their contributions and hosting exciting events like our franchise conference. We also have support structures in place and resources available to help them perform their jobs to the best of their ability, all while providing autonomy and independence. We’re excited to provide the same experience to our NZ franchise partners, and we can’t wait to see what they bring to the table as we enter this new phase of growth together.

At Nuflow, we know that people do their best work when they have the right tools and are given the appropriate support and recognition. This was what our Annual Conference hinged on this year. Held at Peppers Soul in Surfers Paradise, the event bought Nuflow franchise partners together, offering them valuable insights to help them develop as business owners while acknowledging the hard work they do.

With a theme of persistence, drive and endurance, this franchise Conference has set everyone up for a new era of success as we enter the next stage of Nuflow’s growth together. Here are some of the highlights from our 3-day Conference.

2022 Nuflow Conference: persistence, drive and endurance

Pre-event – Connecting new and existing franchise partners

Sunday 28th August

To kick things off, we held a welcome function on Sunday afternoon in the Secret Garden at Peppers Soul. During this 2hr canape and drinks event, our franchisees enjoyed live entertainment and the new partners were introduced to our existing members. This was a great opportunity to jump-start the networking between our franchise partners, getting them to share insights and experiences that others might be able to use down the track.

Day 1 – Business growth opportunities

Monday 29th

We believe in the power of collaboration and communication which is why our first day began with a team building activity called ‘Big Picture,’ run by Be Challenged. This task involved franchise partners being split into groups to work together toward a common goal: painting a canvas that would eventually form one, cohesive mural. It generated a great buzz, and we even uncovered some inner artists!

Since the collective knowledge of our network is key to our success and growth, this activity was followed by a knowledge sharing session. We informed our franchise partners about our latest developments, and about NUTEC, our renewed training program. Our finance manager Dan, and a representative from Astute Financial also offered tips for small business finance.

After lunch, our partner The Marketing Lab hosted a seminar on ‘Amplifying your Impact with Local Area Marketing.’ This was a great chance for collaboration, and our franchisees were able to discuss marketing activities and ideas they could execute in their area. James Haua, who is in charge of Technical Training and Development, and Jeff Hilditch, our National Business Development Manager, then offered insights into the Nuflow IQ App and online shop.

Day 2 – Unveiling Nuflow’s 2022 growth plans

Tuesday 30th

Support from Head Office for our franchise partners is another crucial part of Nuflow’s success. That’s why Day 2 kicked off with a Business Improvement seminar from our leadership team that ran through the plan for 2023, demonstrating how Nuflow’s franchisees will be supported going forward.

A standout of the day was the panel discussion, where a few Nuflow franchise partners had the opportunity to share details of particularly interesting or intensive jobs, which was information that could help other partners in the future. This included work from Nuflow Sunshine Coast and Cooloola Coast, Nuflow Central Queensland, Nuflow Cairns, Nuflow Perth Central, and Nuflow Sydney City.

After lunch was another activity from Be Challenged called ‘Go Team!’. All of the franchise partners were split into teams and participated in a scavenger hunt throughout Surfers Paradise. The final destination was Cavil Hotel, where everyone got to celebrate and have drinks before heading off for whisky tasting and tapas at Steampunk (just a little bit of fun after a hard day’s work!).

Day 3 –Appreciation and awards night

Day 3 was all about celebrating our franchise partners and showing how much we appreciate them. That’s why we headed off to Top Golf on Wednesday morning, where everyone enjoyed a BBQ buffet and beverages. Then, it was back on the bus and off to our manufacturing facility for a tour. Here, everyone was able to see what goes into producing the products that allow them to service the relining needs of their clients so effectively. We have franchise partners all across Australia and New Zealand, so this was an exciting opportunity to showcase where all the collective power for generating new products comes from.

Following some free time to enjoy the sights of Surfers (and maybe a nap for some), everyone headed off to the Marina Mirage for our awards night aboard the fabulous super yacht, the YOT Club. Drinks were provided on arrival, as were some delicious nibbles for everyone to enjoy. This was an amazing night spent celebrating the franchise network and acknowledging the hard work of our people. We loved getting to share this with our network and witnessing our franchise partners cheer for each other’s successes.

A thriving franchise with no signs of slowing down

All in all, the Annual Conference was a huge success and it was great to see the network come together in person for the first time in years. We’re excited to see knowledge and insights gained by our franchise partners in action as we enter our new phase of growth and continue delivering quality relining services across Australian and New Zealand.

If you’re a likeminded business, discover what Nuflow is all about today.

Nuflow Australasia is excited to announce the launch of Nuflow IQ QA: our new internal quality assurance app. This new smart tool is part of our commitment to quality assurance, providing a simple way for our franchise partners to access resources and geotrack jobs from the road.

Available through our new hub portal, this custom web solution is the first of its kind. It will house important technical documents and installation methodologies, as well as provide installation calculators for technicians, empowering even the newest reliners to work with confidence.

Who is the app for?

While the app is designed to be used by local Nuflow teams, clients will also benefit from the streamlined business processes it makes possible. Customer service, communication, and quality management are a key focus of the new app, meaning our clients are provided with a consistently high level of service.

What does the app do?

Nuflow IQ QA is a way to thoroughly track the details of the jobs our team completes, and a way for our technicians to track warranties and access resources while they’re on the job.

Simple record keeping for warranties and quality assurance

The warranty registration of Nuflow’s pipeline materials is a vital part of customer service, and since we have warranties up to 50 years it’s important that comprehensive details of each installation job are recorded. This gives the clearest picture possible of the circumstances of the job, so the warranty can be claimed easily and everyone from the customer to the head office team understands what went into it.

Our team can simply scan the pipe relining products, geo-tag the location, and take photos of the completed installation. From there, the warranty details can be instantly sent off to the customer.

Franchise partners can also submit, view and claim all warranties through this portal, optimising business processes and helping provide the best service possible to our clients.

Resources and calculators all in one place

Nuflow IQ QA will include pipe relining methodologies and useful calculators for resin quantities and working times, helping our on-site teams easily access everything they need to complete the job to the highest standards.

“Quality in a service is not what you put into it. It is what the customer gets out of it. Our new app is all about making sure we deliver the best outcomes for our customers.”

James Tighe, General Manager

Marty’s Story

When Marty suffered a stroke at work in May, Stephen, our Safety and Compliance Officer, picked up on the signs early. He noticed that Marty was having trouble with his speech and movement, and acted quickly to get help.

Marty was just 46 when he had his stroke, and spent around five months in rehabilitation. We were keen to work with Marty’s medical team to learn more about what we needed to do to support Marty in his return to work.

Marty

MARTY’S RETURN TO WORK

The road to rehabilitation is different for each stroke survivor, and the pathway back to work is different each time, too. Our management team worked alongside Marty’s speech, physio and occupational therapists to help make his transition back in to work a smooth one.

Marty’s medical team came out to the Nuflow site to run through what a day at work would like, working out the areas where Marty would be working and picking up on any spots that might be difficult to navigate.

In stroke rehabilitation Marty’s speech therapist made note of the names of different machinery and tools at Nuflow, and used these in therapy to build familiarity. His occupational therapist also worked with him to simulate the kinds of things he’d be doing at work.

Our Manufacturing Manager Jason is happy that Marty is back on the job. “It’s fantastic having Marty back. He arrives with a smile on his face, and leaves with a smile on his face.”

HOW TO SUPPORT SOMEONE TO RETURN TO WORK AFTER A STROKE

When someone returns to work after a stroke, employers can help by working with their medical team to understand what areas they may need support in and how they can help.

The Stroke Foundation says it’s a good idea to get medical clearance before returning to work. Some stroke survivors might need their role to be adapted, and by working with their treatment team employers can help align the role to the person’s strengths.

Manufacturing Manger Jason is an advocate for supporting people to return to work after a stroke. “Marty is a big part of our team, and the way Nuflow has looked after him and the level of support has been unbelievable. We’re so happy we’ve been able to have Marty come back to work.”

WARNING SIGNS OF STROKE: BE FAST

When it comes to spotting the signs of a stroke, the sooner medical attention is received, the better the outcome in many cases. Time is of the essence, and by learning about the early signs of a stroke, you can be ready to act quickly in the event of an emergency. Remember the acronym ‘BE FAST’ and keep an eye out for these signs.

B for Balance

Has your work mate suddenly lost their balance, coordination or footing?

E for Eyes

Has there been a sudden loss of vision, in either one or both eyes? Or, does your coworker have double vision?

F for Face

Does their face look uneven, or like it’s drooping on one side? If you ask them to smile, is their smile uneven?

A for Arms

Is one of their arms drifting down? If you ask them to raise both arms, are they able to?

S for Speech

Is their speech slurred? If you ask them to repeat a phrase, can they repeat it clearly?

T for Time

Time is critical, and every minute helps. Get your coworker medical help immediately.
